With a 20 year pedigree across high performance industrial sectors, the TenCate AmberTool® range comprises of the HX and TC Series.

Schiebel’s CAMCOPTER® S-100 is a high performance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). The UAV operates within an environment which requires a carbon fibre prepreg material that has been manufactured to very tight tolerances.

During product development, Schiebel identified the following requirements:

  • Low temperature prepreg system for the initial component prototyping
  • Tooling prepreg system exhibiting superior dimensional stability and excellent surface finish
  • Specialized mid-temperature structural system including TenCate E722 1K 120g carbon prepreg; a variety of adhesive films; and honeycombs and syntactic core materials
  • Unique material tests, meeting demanding environmental conditions imposed by Schiebel customers
  • Very flexible, fast acting and absolutely reliable system supplier

TenCate’s skilled engineers developed a technical partnership with Schiebel to identify a solution that best fit these requirements. Using the TenCate AmberTool® composite tooling prepreg range and TenCate E722 component prepregs,

TenCate provided a product solution which allowed for high precision for all moulded parts and high accuracy.

  • Tooling block pattern - made from epoxy tooling block coated with TenCate EC85 epoxy hard paint.
  • Prepreg mould - autoclave moulded with TenCate AmberTool® HX50 epoxy tooling prepreg.
  • Component part - made from TenCate E722 component prepreg.

Our complete service allowed a single supplier approach to all tooling composite requirements, from pattern to material to technical support.
