The Senior Continuous Improvement Leader supports the Company’s activities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost of Business and Manufacturing processes within the Morgan Hill Thermoplastic (MH-TP) Operations. In addition, some coordination with Fairfield and Morgan Hill Thermoset Operations may be required to share best practices. Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Director, Continuous Improvement and the MH-TP Leadership Team to develop an Improvement Strategy/Plan for Morgan Hill Thermoplastic Operations, and to monitor progress against the Plan.
  • Work with Kaizen Event Team Leaders to prepare for Kaizen Events by developing Charters (scope, targeted process, team members, etc.) and completing Pre-Work (process mapping, data collection, etc.).
  • Facilitate Kaizen Events (approximately one each 8-12 weeks).
  • After the Kaizen Event, work with the Team Leader to assure open action items are completed and appropriate metrics and standard work are implemented to sustain the improvements.
  • Collect and report metrics, and conduct periodic audits, to assure we are sustaining the results of Kaizen Events and other Improvement projects.
  • Depending on the Improvement Plan, some type of project work (Point Kaizen Events, Root Cause / Corrective Action activities, or Six Sigma projects) may be required.
  • Provide support and supplies to others leading or participating in improvement activities (i.e. 5S documents and supplies, etc.).

Experience and/or Education Requirements:

  • Lean Certification with at least 1.5 years’ experience facilitating Manufacturing Kaizen Events, or Black Belt in Six Sigma with at least 2 completed projects in a Manufacturing environment. Must demonstrate achievement of objective(s) and sustainment on at least 2 Events or Projects.
  • Engineering degree strongly desired.
  • Strong ability to understand and analyze data, and prefer experience with statistics.
  • Works well in teams and can develop and execute action plans to accomplish objectives.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required. Experience with composites and/or a process engineering background is preferred.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good computer skills, especially with Excel. Experience with Minitab a plus.
