Job description

Quality Engineer designs and installs quality processes, sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques to address quality concerns associated with the engineering and manufacturing of advanced composite materials.

  • Reviews and organizes statistical data on quality of production by line, shift and department to produce recommendations for production limitations and problems
  • Designs specific testing mechanisms, equipment and devices
  • Reviews and implements specification revisions
  • Assists with formulating quality standards, policies, programs, plans, procedures and practices
  • Continuously reviews the quality program and makes recommendations
  • Provides on-site technical support to new and ongoing manufacturing operations
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department and the company
  • Research and answer customer inquiries for data, certifications and compliance to various regulations
  • May train staff in quality applications
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Manager or designee

Experience and/or Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in the field, previous experience supporting a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts in the analysis of Quality and Manufacturing data

Requirements

  • Must be familiar with computer systems including MS Office and data base systems (FileMaker Pro preferred)
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with all levels of the company, customers and regulatory agencies
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in composing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of measurements conversion and weights in metric and standards
  • Maintain work areas in neat, orderly and safe manner
