Job description

Responsible for executing all process engineering activities across a broad range of processes, ranging from manufacturing, machining, dimensioning, and testing of thermoset and thermoplastic composite parts and materials. The Process Engineer works with all related functions including Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality Assurance and Shipping to achieve the company’s objectives.

Major duties and requirements

  • Recognizes and troubleshoots problems associated with manufacturing equipment.
  • Support the Manufacturing Manager in establishing and measuring process performance standards associated with quality, waste/throughput.
  • Provide input to operational reviews and other efforts leading to process improvements and cost reduction activities.
  • Support investigations and resolve operational non-conformances and customer related issues.
  • Participate in customer site audits and visits at TenCate. Support targeted projects at TenCate or customer shops. Areas include defining and documenting product and processing parameters, capability, cost reductions and manufacturing.
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects and effectively represent the company.
  • Works with functional Supervisors to ensure that employees have the resources to do their respective jobs.
  • Works with the Production Supervisor to understand clear objectives and expectations. Working with Supervisor, provides communication, clear direction and feedback to the shop floor.
  • Evaluates methods and materials that will allow shop floor employees to maximize their performance and overall potential.
  • Work with Supervisor to support the site goals and ensure the safe and environmentally sound performance of the site operations.
  • Ensure processes are properly documented and the documents are being followed in adherence with AS9100 registration.
  • Supports internal audit schedules and ensure that assigned Corrective Action Requests are completed by agreed upon due dates.
  • Responds to customer requirements and / or complaints in a timely fashion
  • Performs all duties in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Engineering and Facilities Manager or designee.

Experience and/or education requirements

  • Can be a new college graduate, but would prefer a minimum of two years process engineering experience.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read blue prints and CAD experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with all levels of the company.
  • Proven record of accomplishment, decisiveness in initiating actions.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
  • Energetic and takes initiative.
  • Strong process orientation.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Able to work and communicate as a member of a team and experience in working in and leading cross-functional teams.

Physical requirements

There are no special requirements of the job other than being to perform normal computer related tasks. Must be able to spend extending periods of time walking around the plant as part of normal job functions. No significant lifting requirements.
